Romelu Lukaku has proven quite a force for Everton this campaign, and with 18 Premier League goals to his name, he is making huge strides when it comes to repaying the hefty £28 million club record fee that the Toffees paid for his signature two summers ago.
Alongside his exploits in the league, his efforts in the FA Cup have given the Merseyside outfit a great chance of going all the way to May’s final at Wembley. Indeed, the Belgian international added to his already impressive tally on Saturday evening, silencing the fans of his former club, Chelsea, with a late brace in the competition’s quarter-final stages.
While the statistics from the current campaign make for very good reading, his record since first leaving Saturday’s London-based opponents is simply mind-blowing:
Since first leaving Stamford Bridge on loan, a period in which he has featured for West Brom and current club Everton, he has contributed to an incredible 107 goals for his respective sides, broken down into 79 goals and 28 assists. For an English top flight player who is still only 22 years of age, this is an absolutely terrific record.
Surely the Chelsea management are kicking themselves for letting the talented youngster slip through their grasp?
