Anthony Gordon has had to bide his time and wait for his Everton chance this season but seems to have learned a lot from training alongside Lucas Digne.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Gordon paid tribute to Frenchman Digne, calling him one of the best players in the world in his position right now.
He said: “Lucas [Digne] is quality. He’s just good at everything, he is so consistent everyday and his quality on the ball is ridiculous and he’s, obviously, one of the best left-backs in the world at the minute so to compete against him is only going to benefit me.
“It’s the consistency of first touches, the way Premier League players keep the ball in difficult situations, it’s a much higher quality and you can see how good the players are when you are playing with them everyday.”
TBR’s View – Gordon needs players like Digne setting the standard in order to improve
Everton are struggling for form slightly right now and one of the best ways to turn their fortunes around is for the senior players in the squad to raise standards day in day out.
For Gordon, the low league position may mean he has to wait even longer for his breakthrough into the side, but he should get to learn from leaders within the squad about how to get out of tough times.
