Josh Bowler has taken to Instagram to confirm he has undergone surgery after suffering an inury on the training ground, which is reportedly said to have ruled him out of a summer exit – and plenty have responded, including Antonee Robinson.

Bowler, 21, had started the 2020-21 season in good form for Everton’s Under-23 side – scoring two goals in three Premier League 2 outings against Leicester and Derby County. The Liverpool Echo claim Bowler was set for a move this summer.

The £4million (Liverpool Echo) signing is in the final 12 months of his contract at Everton – and struggled at Hull City last season, scoring just one goal in 31 appearances as the Tigers were relegated to the third tier of English football.

The Echo report that during a shooting exercise, Bowler suffered a hip injury that has required surgery and could keep him sidelined for 12 weeks – and therefore he will be fighting to be fit for the January window. He confirmed the op on Instagram.

Bowler needs game time to further his potential, with the former Queens Park Rangers man struggling to live up to the early hype that initially brought him to Everton from Loftus Road in the summer of 2017.

Plenty of Everton Under-23 teammates responded to his Instagram as did new Fulham signing and former teammate Antonee Robinson. Lewis Gibson also commented, with a one-word verdict of “stronger”.
