Ademola Lookman turned in a brilliant man of the match display for England’s Under-21s side on Thursday and he can use that as a springboard to help his first-team chances at Everton.
The winger opened the scoring and also grabbed an assist in a convincing 7-0 win over Andorra, as England’s Under-21s booked their spot in the Euro 2019 finals.
Lookman was one of the standout players to catch the eye in the convincing international victory, but his action has been limited so far this season at club level.
The 20-year-old has been on the fringes at Goodison Park and had just two brief cameo appearances from the bench in the Premier League, while he also featured in a Carabao Cup defeat.
But his performance on Thursday could act as the perfect catalyst to force his way into the plans of Toffees manager Marco Silva on a more regular basis.
Lookman excelled out on loan with German club RB Leipzig in the second half of last season, proving that he is good enough to make a difference at senior football despite his age.
He is a tricky left-winger with bundles of pace and trickery, but is struggling due to the fierce competition in the Everton squad right now.
The wide man can certainly play an important role this campaign for the Merseyside club if he gets his chance and impressing for England should only help that.
