Everton will reportedly have to pay €30 million (£26.7 million) to sign Andre Gomes permanently this summer. Spanish publication Sport has been commenting on the future of Gomes this week. They suggest the Portugal international is likely to be on his way out of Barcelona in the not so distant future.
The report says Everton or West Ham will be his destination, but that £26.7 million is the asking price.
It comes in the same week that Mundo Deportivo reported an agreement between the player and Everton over his permanent signing.
Gomes has become a fan favourite at Everton over the course of the 2018-19 campaign. After recovering from an injury he quickly emerged as one of the club’s better players at the start of the season.
Undoubtedly, some inconsistency crept into his game toward the end of the season. But Everton will undoubtedly have seen enough to suggest a permanent deal is worth it.
It is likely £26.7 million is more than Everton were initially willing to pay for the player, so it will be interesting to see the final price. However, it does at least seem likely that Gomes will be an Everton player next season.
