Liverpool are reportedly looking into the potential signing of Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach. German outlet Express is claiming that the Reds are interested in the 22-year-old, who has had a fine debut season in the Bundesliga.

However, he will not come cheap, with a potential price-tag of £44 million mentioned.

The news will not leave Everton fans smiling.

Because the Toffees were, themselves, linked with Thuram last summer.

As reported by TeamTALK, Everton were interested in signing the Frenchman from Guingamp following the club’s relegation from the French top-flight.

Everton ended up being one of a number of English clubs left disappointed as Marcus, the son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram, headed to Germany in a deal reportedly (Goal) worth around £10.8 million.

The young frontman has gone on to have a brilliant debut season with Gladbach, scoring 10 goals and assisting nine in 33 appearances.

Everton ended up bringing in Moise Kean and the Italian talent has yet to live up to the high expectations many had of the former Juventus star.

Hearing that their former target is now worth £44 million and is wanted by their fierce rivals will certainly leave Everton fans wondering what might have been.
