Everton will make a move to sign Burnley defender James Tarkowski this summer, as Frank Lampard looks to make some big additions to his Toffees squad.

Tarkowski is out of contract in the summer and is expected to have a number of Premier League teams to choose from. Indeed, Newcastle and West Ham both have been credited with an interest in him before. However, according to iNews, Everton and Lampard will try and make their case to Tarkowski to come to Goodison.

iNews reports how the Everton board are set to back Lampard in the transfer market and are more than happy with what he is doing at the club. With that, Lampard is set to be given funds to rebuild the squad in the summer months.

Tarkowski, now 29, can leave Burnley for nothing. He’s made more than 200 appearances for the Clarets and Sean Dyche has labelled the England international as an ‘outstanding‘ player.

Everton won against Manchester United last weekend to breathe new life into their fight against relegation. It was a huge win for the Toffees, who now have a renewed belief that they can indeed beat the drop.

TBR’s View: Tarkowski Is Just What Everton Need

He might not be a young up and comer anymore but James Tarkowski is a player who can bring so much to Everton at the right time.

He has bags of Premier League experience in the tank and in terms of being a reliable defender at this level, there aren’t many better in the division. On a free transfer, too, Tarkowski makes all kinds of sense.

Frank Lampard has walked into a bit of a nightmare at Everton. If he does keep them up, then the summer is his big chance to put his mark on proceedings. Signing Tarkowski, who Burnley once valued at £50m, would be a good start.
