Everton transfer news: Club considering move for Oscar Estupinan, he’s got 11 goals already this season
Everton are now reportedly considering a move for Hull City striker Oscar Estpuinan.
The report suggests that Hull would want £5.3m to sell the striker in January, who is in a rich vein of form.
Estupinan has scored in each of his last three league games, and was rested against Fulham in the FA Cup.
He started the season like a house on fire, scoring two braces in three games before recording a hat-trick against Coventry.
Estupinan isn’t the only Championship striker that Everton have been linked with recently.
Only two players in the league have outscored Estupinan, and they’ve both been linked with a move to Goodison Park.
The first is Viktor Gyokeres, who Everton have been interested in some time.
The other player is Middlesbrough forward Chuba Akpom, who the Daily Mail recently reported is on Everton’s radar.
Everton considering move for Estupinan
The 26-year-old could be the latest Colombian to arrive at Goodison Park.
Yerry Mina is still at the club, but has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
It would be interesting to see what sort of advice he would give to Estupinan if he asked him about the club.
The other Colombian who has played for the Toffees recently was James Rodriguez.
They’ve enjoyed a mixed record at the club, but Estupinan could very much turn that into a positive if he were signed.
Estupinan is brilliant in the air but not the hardest working forward off the ball.
He’s unlikely to link play together well, and would much rather be poaching in the box than contribution to Everton’s build up.
Hull manager Liam Rosenior has been really impressed with the Colombian since joining the club.
“He keeps scoring, he’s brilliant,” Rosenior said.
He’s been fitter, he’s been stronger, and he’s working so hard for the team. He’s pressing the goalkeeper, he’s pressing the centre-halves. Not only his goals, but his all-round performances have been top for us.”
If Everton are considering a move for Estupinan, it suggests they want a forward who can easily fill in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Neal Maupay is a very different type of striker, whereas Estupinan could slot straight into the side in the Englishman’s absence.
Given Calvert-Lewin’s injury record that’s not the worst idea.
And considering Maupay only has one league goal to his name this season, having an alternative striker might not be a bad idea.
