Everton are currently on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Rafa Benitez last week.

The Toffees parted company with the Spaniard after just six-and-a-half months in charge at Goodison Park.

Everton have won just once in the Premier League since September and are 16th in the Premier League table.

A number of managers have already been linked with the Blues reins, including Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.

Now, Everton cult hero Don Hutchison has urged the Toffees to move for someone like Erik ten Hag.

The former Blues midfielder took to Twitter telling the club to approach an “elite” manager.

Ten Hag would certainly be a great shout for Everton.

The 51-year-old has been superb at Ajax since taking the reins in 2017.

Ten Hag has won two Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups and a Johan Cruyff Shield.

In addition, he got Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has sung the Dutchman’s praises in the past.

“Erik is rightly regarded as one of the most exciting coaching talents in world football at the moment because of the work he does with Ajax,” Klopp said in December 2020, via Planet Football.

That said, Ten Hag is currently being linked with the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

It remains to be seen whether Everton could persuade him to take the Goodison reins at this moment in time.
