Everton target Salomon Rondon could be a great striker solution at Goodison Park

Everton are reportedly interested in signing West Brom attacker Salomon Rondon, who is thriving on loan with Newcastle United this season in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Star, Newcastle are keen on signing the 29-year-old on a permanent basis but could face competition from the Toffees.

It is understood that the Venezuela international would like to stay at St James’ Park, but the Merseyside club could hijack interest if manager Rafael Benitez exits Newcastle or funds aren’t made available.

Rondon will cost £16.5million in the summer (Express and Star) if West Brom don’t secure promotion from the Championship, but if they do jump up to the Premier League his price tag will rise to a fee over £20million.

West Brom are currently on course for a play-off finish and the cost of the South American could well end up being decided on a game at Wembley.

Rondon has impressed hugely for Newcastle this season and managed to make the most of the team’s limited attack.

The powerful centre-forward has 10 goals in 26 games across all competitions this season and is the perfect target man.

He’s excellent in the air and can hold the ball up well, while his work-rate and movement in the final third has made him a fan favourite this season.

Everton would be signing the finished product if they did hijack a deal for Rondon and potentially picking him up for a minimal £16.5million deal would be genius.

He’s certainly got the potential to score more goals in a more attacking side and would thrive off service from the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison at Goodison Park.
