Everton target David Neres has reportedly been made a promise by Ajax director of football Marc Overmars that he can leave the club this summer if an interesting offer comes in.

UOL report that the coveted Brazilian would be able to depart the Amsterdam giants, with the article stating the winger won’t be sold for anything less than €50 million (£43 million).

Neres has been enjoying a very fruitful season over in the Eredivisie having scored eight league goals and provided eight assists.

He’s also been impressing in the Champions League, playing 11 games and contributing two goals and two assists.

Neres joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in January 2017, and is now starting to show his dazzling potential.

TBR’s view

Surely Everton – who have been heavily linked with the player over the past few weeks (reported on by UOL in early April) – have to take heart from Overmars’ stance over Neres, if of course UOL’s report is to be believed.

One would imagine the Toffees would be able to afford a potential £43 million outlay, and the club have shown they are capable of such deals, with Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson both signings for similar fees in recent years.

Everton do need to clear out some deadwood this summer so there could be a good chance of them bidding for Neres after raising some funds through player sales.

Marco Silva is in need of some improvements in the attacking areas, with Theo Walcott and Bernard having not contributed too many goals and assists between them in 2018/19.
