Everton have recently been linked with a move for Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Italian stopper is considering making a move away from AC Milan this summer and Carlo Ancelotti is keen.
He would certainly not come cheap. The 21-year-old is considered one of the world’s best young goalkeepers and a recent report from Calciomercato suggested a current valuation of £47 million.
Of course, it is easy to laugh off this report, but many would have done the same with Everton’s initial interest in Moise Kean last season.
The common denominator for both players is their agent, Mino Raiola. He has a strong relationship with both Everton director of football Marcel Brands and chairman Farhad Moshiri.

However, as Raiola himself has previously stated, Donnarumma will not be cheap. Five years ago, when the goalkeeper was just 16-years-old, the ‘super-agent- insisted he was worth around €170 million (£157m), as reported by Football Italia.
Such a fee would comfortably make Donnarumma the world’s most expensive goalkeeper and also leave him out of Everton’s reach.
But that was 2015, this is 2020. AC Milan need to keep their books balanced and have not been thriving in Serie A for some time. On top of that, Donnarumma is out of contract in 2021, so Milan will be anxious regarding his potential exit on a free transfer next summer.
The time to strike is now for Everton and it won’t be for anything like the price-tag quoted in 2015.
