Everton are reportedly interested in Manchester City’s Fabian Delph and should look to the past to see why it could be a decent piece of business for them.
The Sun reports that the Toffees are interested in the midfielder and more game time could tempt him into a Goodison Park move, as he enters the final year of his deal at the Etihad Stadium.
It is understood that Marco Silva’s team could make a £16million swoop for the Englishman.
Delph is someone that has racked up a wealth of experience in his career and he made his senior debut aged 17 at Leeds United.
The 29-year-old has played a fringe role at Manchester City in recent season, so some people may doubt whether he’s on the decline.
He played just 20 times across all competitions last season and has slipped down the pecking order for Pep Guardiola’s side.
But Everton can look at the type of impact former player Gareth Barry made on Merseyside for encouragement.

Barry moved to Everton from Manchester City aged 33 back in 2014, after previously impressing the season before on loan.
The central midfielder was an experienced head that some had written off, but he established himself as a key player in the centre of the park and his knowledge was crucial.
His arrival as a senior player certainly had a positive impact at Goodison Park and perhaps Delph could play a similar role.
Delph may not be the big-name arrival to walk into the Everton, but he would provide excellent cover and also experience.
He’s a central midfielder that has a decent left foot for passing and is tough in his tackles, while he can slot in at left-back if needed.
