Everton are being linked with a move for Nantes’ Argentine striker Emiliano Sala. As reported by The Sunday People (18/11/18; pg 49) the frontman is being courted by Everton, along with Premier League rivals Wolves, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

The 28-year-old would reportedly be keen on a move, with a £15 million asking price being mooted.

Everton are believed to want further options in attack, with Cenk Tosun’s form questionable and Oumar Niasse expected to leave.

Sala has found some fine form this season with the Canaries. He has scored 12 goals in 13 games for the French side. Add that to his 15 goals and 12 goals respectively from the past two seasons and he has a fine record for Nantes.

Everton would, therefore, be signing a potentially lethal goal-getter in the Premier League.

However, fans would immediately see similarities between the player and a former cult hero. Sala is tall, gangly and appears uncoordinated but is extremely hard-working. He earns all his goals and has the Argentine steel to throw his body on the line for the cause.

All these are traits shared with former Everton fan favourite Denis Stracqualursi. He, unfortunately, never scored regularly during his time at Goodison Park, but the comparisons between the pair are easy to see. Playing style, physical appearance, work-rate and even nationality are all shared between the pair and if he could have a similar impact Everton fans would happily have him on board. If he can also add the goals that Stracqualursi lacked, then he would be an even bigger hero.
