Everton have just four games left in the Premier League season before they can start planning for next year, where they do need to improve under Marco Silva.
The Toffees have shown glimpses of real quality under the Portuguese boss, but need to become more of the real package in his second year and a couple more additions at Goodison Park should help.
According to the Daily Star, the Merseyside club are already eyeing Burnley winger Dwight McNeil ahead of the summer.
It is understood that Everton have watched the 19-year-old in action alongside Manchester City and Arsenal.
Meanwhile, the report further details that Newcastle United have now joined the host of clubs tracking him.
McNeil is an upcoming talent at Turf Moor that has impressed in the Premier League this season and looks a real diamond in the mud.
Everton could be onto a winner if they step up interest in the Burnley attacker, who hasn’t been phased by the step up to the top flight.
McNeil has come through the academy at Burnley and has immense potential.
The English left-winger has made 22 senior appearances so far this campaign, scoring three goals and supplying five assists in return.
He is a teenage talent that has an excellent left foot that can provide accurate delivery into the penalty area and he’s not afraid to runs at defenders either with his trickery.
McNeil certainly looks a star for the future that is currently going under the radar and Everton could hit the jackpot with him.
