Everton star Bernard has lavished praise on his Goodison Park teammate Richarlison, branding the attacker ‘an exceptional player’ with ‘a massive heart’.
The Brazilian sat down with the club’s official website for an interview entitled ‘Name Game’.
The star answered a question for every letter in his own name, with the topic for the first ‘R’ being Richarlison.
Asked what type of teammate he is, the former Shakhtar Donetsk player said: “Richarlison is a bit like me. He is quite discreet day-to-day at the training ground.
“He jokes and relaxes. He’s quite a quiet person and listens a lot to those around him.
“He’s a great guy and an exceptional player. He’s a really good person, he’s got a massive heart and he really looks to help people.”
Bernard then disclosed that Richarlison is currently ‘providing assistance’ to people affected by floods in Brazil.
TBR’s view – Richarlison can become Everton hero
Bernard’s comments about Richarlison are sure to make Richarlison even more of a popular figure at Goodison Park.
He is obviously a quality player, but it will no doubt be good for fans to realise how nice and mature of a person he is as well.
It would seem the 22-year-old has all the makings of someone who can become a real icon for the club should he stick around for the long-term.
Given his vast potential though, Everton may have to get a little lucky if they are to do that.
