Everton are in a battle with Premier League rivals Wolves and Southampton for RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin, according to the Sun.
They report that the German outfit are willing to allow the pacy frontman to leave this month, and Marco Silva is keen as he searches for renewed firepower.
Leipzig will reportedly accept a bid of £38m, clearly valuing the frontman highly despite him only starting three league matches this season.
But despite Everton’s desperation for a striker, they should not be held to ransom over the transfer fee for a player who would be coming to Goodison in the middle of a season he has spent largely out of favour.

That potential lack of sharpness would not allow him to come in and make the impact Everton need, especially if they are paying a bumper fee for him during the middle of the season.
Everton are currently counting the cost of their last January gamble, in the shape of Cenk Tosun, so they know as well as any team that the market for strikers explodes in the winter window and there is not much value to be had.
Nearly £40m for an out-of-favour frontman is a lot of money for Marco Silva to gamble, when he could ride out his maiden Toffees campaign before seeking improved value in the summer.
