Everton should take advantage of Chelsea spurning opportunity to sign Malcom

Everton were linked with Brazilian winger Malcom before he moved to Barcelona in the summer and should take full advantage of Barcelona’s willingness to sell.

Spanish champions Barcelona have offered Chelsea a part swap deal involving cash and winger Malcom in return for Willian, according to the Telegraph.

They report that the Catalans are keen to land the 30-year-old Brazilian and are prepared to offload his countryman, whom they only signed from Bordeaux in the summer, to land him.

But Chelsea have apparently turned the offer down, despite the fact that Willian only has 18 months left on his contract and the fact that Malcom could form part of an exciting new era alongside Christian Pulisic and potentially Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Malcom was not short of admirers in England during his days with Bordeaux and Everton were reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ to sign him for £30m from the Ligue 1 outfit back in July.

And with Barcelona reportedly willing to sell Malcom outright if Chelsea continue to be unwilling to sell Willian – because he has failed to force his way into their first team picture – Everton should muscle in and rekindle their interest.

The Toffees clearly have a good working relationship with Barca, having brought Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes in from the Nou Camp over the summer and they should take full advantage of that with Malcom.

Theo Walcott has been the weak link in their attack this season and Malcom would be a clear upgrade on the Englishman on the right; with countryman Richarlison on the left, Marco Silva would have a side brimming with pace.
