Everton should take a chance on striker Nikola Kalinic

Everton could really do with a new striker in the January transfer window and should be hunting the market for a potential solution.

The Toffees need to find someone who can compete with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the centre-forward role at Goodison Park.

Marco Silva’s team should turn attention to Nikola Kalinic, who looks set to depart La Liga club Atletico Madrid in January.

According to Marca, Spurs, Monaco and Valencia are all interested in a swoop for the 31-year-old this month.

It is understood that the Croatia international could be offloaded despite only joining in the summer and that will allow Alvaro Morata to join on loan from Chelsea.

With Kalinic set to be on the move in January, Everton should consider hijacking interest and offering him an opportunity on Merseyside.

He is an experienced centre-forward that has scored 142 goals during his senior career and played in a number of countries, including a stint with Blackburn Rovers in England.

The striker enjoyed a strong goalscoring stint with Fiorentina recently, while he’s shown enough individual quality to play for the likes of Atletico and AC Milan.

He has the qualities to play a lone striker role with his pace, movement and aerial threat, which is why he could be worth a punt for Everton.
