Even Everton fans have to admit it now, there is something up with Jordan Pickford. There is obviously plenty of talent present in the England number one, who cost £25 million from Sunderland last summer. However, mistakes have been far too present in his game. His display against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday was poor and he cost Everton a 0-0 draw at Anfield.
Some Everton fans would like to see him replaced. But for who? Maarten Stekelenburg? Exactly.
What Everton need to do is bring in another keeper who can add competition but also help Pickford grow as a goalkeeper.
Burnley have the perfect option just waiting to be picked up.

Another England international, Tom Heaton has struggled at Turf Moor since suffering a serious shoulder injury.
Nick Pope took his number one spot before Joe Hart took his. Heaton is now third-choice. It appears a January exit is likely. Aston Villa seemed a likely destination but they are now signing Lovre Kalinic. Heaton is therefore available and likely at a cut-price.
His experience and competitive nature would give Pickford plenty to learn from and just enough pressure to ensure he does not let complacency impact his game.
Signing Heaton could give Pickford the kick up the backside he requires whilst also bringing in a solid, no thrills, reliable alternative if this run of form proves more permanent.
