Everton look a little light at centre half following Kurt Zouma’s return to Chelsea following his loan spell and Phil Jagielka’s departure from the club.
Michael Keane and injury-prone Yerry Mina are the only two senior options, with Mason Holgate at cover – but more is clearly needed.
The Toffees were linked by the Northern Echo in June 2018 with a swoop for Gibson, but were reportedly quoted £30 million by Middlesbrough.
In between, he moved to Burnley for a reported (Goal) £15 million but his Turf Moor time has gone so poorly that the Clarets are now apparently fielding loan offers from Turkey (Sky Sports) for the 26-year-old.

Gibson is still just 26, with the raw materials to grow into a solid Premier League defender. Sky Sports report that he had two hernia injuries during his maiden campaign at Turf Moor, and that stopped him from getting into his stride.
Sean Dyche also went back to the Ben Mee and James Tarkowski axis he knows so well midway through last season with Burnley struggling against relegation, which froze Gibson out as well.
But Everton need another body in defence and Gibson fits the bill. Burnley may well be open to offers given the fact he didn’t force his way into their side last term and he would be an ideal coup for Everton this summer.
