According to the BBC, RB Leipzig are making a fresh attempt to sign Everton winger Ademola Lookman. The 21-year-old spent a fruitful loan stint with the Bundesliga club in 2018. Now the German outfit want him back on a permanent basis.
Lookman may be tempted by a return to Leipzig. The Bundesliga has given a number of exciting young English talents a chance to flourish in recent years, including Jadon Sancho and Reis Nelson. Leipzig would offer Lookman a regular place in the starting XI, which is exactly what he needs right now.
This would be a good career move for the England under-21 international. However, Everton would be wise to try and convince the wide man to remain at Goodison Park. Whilst Lookman struggled to get regular game time with the Toffees last season, he remains a hugely exciting talent. Marco Silva would be wise to invest his faith in the youngster this time around, and give him the first team exposure he needs. Showing faith in Lookman now could pay off very nicely for Everton in the long run.
With Theo Walcott struggling to find his best form, there’s room in the Toffee’s squad for Lookman to impose himself. He should be given the chance to usurp the 30-year-old former Arsenal forward. Everton should, therefore, ignore any offers from RB Leipzig this summer, and instead grant Lookman a greater role in their plans this season.
