Everton should reignite previous reported interest in Bayer Leverkusen attacker - TBR View
If you look at Everton’s progression under manager Carlo Ancelotti so far, you can clearly see they are heading in the right direction.
The Merseyside club are eighth in the Premier League table as it stands, and if they can finish in the European positions this season it would be a real step forward. They have the ambition now to really try get themselves into the group of top teams in the country, albeit the competition is fierce.
Everton now have a clear nucleus of quality players at their disposal, with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Lucas Digne among them. But it’s clear squad depth is still an issue that needs addressing at Goodiosn Park.
They need to keep improving as a squad to compete with the very best, and there are several positions they should be targeting strengthening this summer.
One key area should be in the wide areas.
Everton were linked with Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey last summer, who is someone that the Toffees should consider renewing interest in.
According to Sport1 in August 2020, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti had the 23-year-old on his transfer radar.
Bailey is a speedster that usually plays as a right winger, and he’s exactly what the Everton squad needs to keep getting better.
The Jamaican attacker has a very strong record of 12 goals and nine assists across all competitions this season for Bundesliga side Leverkusen.
Aged 23, he’s already proven himself as a top talent in Germany, and looks like he’d be a great fit for the English game with his strengths.
Ancelotti’s pulling power has shown he can attract top talent to Goodison Park, which is why they should reignite interest in Bailey.
