Chelsea are lining up a bid for PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano this month, according to Calcio Mercato, via TalkSport.
They will reportedly offer £36m for the rapid wideman who shone for Mexico at this summer’s World Cup, most notably grabbing the winning goal over Germany in the opening round of matches.
Lozano already has 11 goals to his name so far this season and Chelsea have made no secret of their desire to freshen up their frontline, but Everton are another side in need of greater attacking impetus.
Marco Silva’s side have faltered in recent weeks and there is an overreliance on Richarlison, which needs rectifying as soon as possible – otherwise their reason will fizzle out.
That means that Everton should hijack Chelsea’s bid for the Mexican speedster. They need an upgrade on Theo Walcott down the right and Silva still does not completely trust the next realistic alternative, Ademola Lookman.
£36m is a lot of money – and Marcel Brands has previously directly referenced his reluctance to go above £20m for Lozano, because he is not proven in the Premier League.
Signing players from Holland can be hit and miss, but Lozano proved on the world stage during the summer and during the Champions League this season that he has the quality to cut it in the more refined company of the Premier League.
