Everton should finally land Aaron Ramsey after 2018 transfer failure

The ex-Arsenal man could be on his way from Juventus despite only arriving in Turin last summer.

Back in 2018 Everton were preparing a sizeable package to take Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal on a free transfer. The Sun reported that the Toffees offered the midfielder £150,000-a-week to make the move to Goodison Park.

Ramsey eventually left to join Juventus but after failing to make his mark on Maurizio Sarri’s team, he could be on the move again during the summer.

The 29-year-old has started just eight games in all competitions and has found himself down the pecking order throughout the campaign.

It is being reported by Calciomercato that he could be on his way after just one season in Italy.

Having joined the Old Lady for free, the midfielder would surely fetch Juventus some profit with his contract set to run until 2023.

News that he could leave must alert Everton and they could finally land a player who could be a nice fit in a Carlo Ancelotti team.

Having offered Ramsey a substantial package prior to him joining the Serie A outfit, Director of Football, Marcel Brands, is clearly a big fan of the midfielder.

Ramsey’s pass success ratio is up at 87.4% this season, making an average of 34 passes per game (Who Scored).

In 371 games for Arsenal, Ramsey netted 65 goals and registered 65 assists, despite struggling with several injury problems.

Flexible

Ancelotti has typically utilised a 4-4-2 formation during his time at Everton.

As a result, his central midfield axis must be energetic and Ramsey is a man who is capable of performing in both boxes.

If the Everton boss wanted to utilise a No.10, the 29-year-old would be more than capable of operating in that role, as he did for so many years with Arsenal.

Although Juventus will want a transfer fee for Ramsey, it’s unlikely to break Everton’s budget and a move for the Welshman seems logical.

Years after failing to get a deal over the line for the midfielder, the Toffees could secure an attractive signing and get themselves a player who looks tailor-made for Ancelotti’s system.
