Gylfi Sigurdsson has been a regular in the Everton team this season, but he can consider himself very fortunate to have so many minutes under his belt considering his form.
The attacking midfielder has had some glittering moments in a Toffees shirt since joining in 2017 and was particularly fantastic during his first year at Goodison Park.
But there has been a noticeable decline in the 30-year-old’s performances for quite a while now, especially during this season.
The Iceland international has played 22 games across all competitions this season, scoring two gaols and supplying one assists in return.
But beyond just poor statistics he’s ghosted through games on several occasions and looks nowhere near the level he once was.

Carlo Ancelotti has now had a brief time to get a look at his squad and he’s started Sigurdsson in all three of his games so far.
But the playmaker was miles off the pace in the defeat to Manchester City on New Year’s Day and he surely has to be dropped moving forward given some invisible performances in the centre of the park.
A spate of injuries in the squad has definitely helped him this season, but he needs a stint on the bench for the good of the team.
With Sigurdsson’s contract still running until 2022, there is time for him to bounce back in an Everton shirt and he’s got the vision and technique to punish defences on his day.
Unfortunately Everton fans haven’t seen the version of Sigurdsson for a long time and Ancelotti should make a big first call to drop him.
