According to L’Equipe, PSG have renewed their interest in signing Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

The 29-year-old impressed for the Toffees last season, and is a key part of Marco Silva’s squad. Should he depart Goodison Park this summer, that would certainly be a blow for the Portuguese coach, and Gueye would need to be replaced.

One potential candidate to take up the Senegalese star’s vacancy on Merseyside is Mario Lemina.

Lemina currently seems unsettled at Southampton. He plans to leave the south coast club this summer, as reported by France Football. France Football also state that Lemina is keen on joining either Arsenal or Manchester United.

However, Everton would be wise to enter the race for the 25-year-old’s signature. Lemina is a ready-made replacement for Gueye. Like Gueye, the 15-cap Gabon international has proven his quality in the Premier League, and has demonstrated that he has what it takes to compete physically in English football.

Lemina has the pace, tenacity and stamina to effectively perform a box-to-box role. He also possesses the requisite defensive discipline to protect his team’s backline. Lemina is a complete, modern midfielder, with plenty of potential to still improve. He also has the versatility to fill in as a full-back, making him an even more valuable squad member.

Should the Toffees lose Gueye this summer, then Lemina represents an ideal and available replacement.
