Everton want Kurt Zouma permanently this summer, but may face difficulty bringing the transfer to fruition.
The French defender is a Chelsea player who spent 2018/19 on loan at Goodison Park.
Having done well, the Toffees would very much like to sign him up as one of their own and talks have been opened according to The Telegraph.
However, Marco Silva and Marcel Brands know that Chelsea are currently under a transfer ban, meaning they would not be able to replace Zouma if they let him leave.
Given Zouma’s performances for Everton in 2018/19, it would be unsurprising to see Chelsea block any attempt at a permanent transfer.
That all said, Everton need to be looking at potential alternatives – and there may be one over in the Bundesliga.
Dan-Axel Zagadou of Borussia Dortmund could be worth consideration by Everton.
The 6ft 5in colossus is apparently being tracked by Arsenal (France Football), who desperately need to strengthen at the back.
Zagadou is one of Europe’s most promising young centre-halves.
Zouma’s younger compatriot is still rough around the edges, but he has the potential to reach the highest level with his composed style, good ball-playing ability and physical prowess.
With Mats Hummels now back at Dortmund, game time could be limited for the 20-year-old France U20 captain and so his stay should not be assumed.
