It’s being reported that Liverpool have interest in Ismaila Sarr – and Everton should surely be issuing a challenge of their own for the winger.

According to the Mirror, the Jurgen Klopp and the Reds are looking at the Senegal speedster as a possible alternative to Jadon Sancho.

Sarr has been one of Watford’s most impressive performers in 2019/20 following his £25 million move from Rennes (BBC Sport).

The ace has made 28 appearances for the Hornets, contributing six goals and five assists for the club.

Two of those came against Liverpool during their first league defeat before the enforced break, which may or may not have contributed to the speculation he’s now a Reds target.

Perhaps the temptation to move will be there for Liverpool if Watford end up going down, but Everton should surely make a fight of things.

TBR’s View – Everton badly need a player like Sarr

If Watford get relegated then the Toffees should be all over Sarr and elbow aside there rivals.

He has shown real glimpses of his talent in his debut campaign and it’s clear there is massive potential.

At Goodison Park, Bernard and Theo Walcott have left a lot to be desired and there arguably needs to be more competition in the wide areas.

The likelihood of Sarr getting regular game time on the blue side of Merseyside is far greater than on the red, so there’s a reasonable chance for Everton to beat their rivals to him.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team aren’t the most mobile at the moment – bringing in Sarr would provide a much needed injection of pace and directness.
