It seems Derby County remain keen on signing Everton defender Matthew Pennington in the summer. As reported by Sky Sports, Frank Lampard wanted to sign the centre-back in January, but his current loan club Ipswich Town shot the deal down.
Now, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, the Rams are keen on the Everton defender for the end of the season.
Whilst Ipswich look set to be relegated, Pennington has been a rare shining light for the Tractor Boys this season.
Everton, however, are unlikely to have any plans for the player, whose current deal at Goodison Park runs until 2021.

So instead of just loaning him out in the summer, Everton should allow their Finch Farm product to move on.
At 24-years-old, the defender from Warrington now needs to settle at a new permanent home and this season he has shown he can operate at the Championship level. With Derby potentially remaining in the second-tier next season he could be a perfect option to help them mount a promotion challenge again next season.
At Everton, his pathway to the first-team is blocked and just like Tyias Browning recently did he needs a fresh start elsewhere to kick into the next stage of his career.
Everton should wish Pennington luck and cash in whilst they still can this summer.
