Back in September, it was reported that Everton had been scouting a little-known defender at Porto. The player in question was Eder Militao. UOL Esporte suggested Everton had been scouting the player in a Champions League clash with Schalke and Primeira Liga tie against Vitoria Setubal.
The report suggested Porto would want a fee in the region of €20million (£17.85million), despite paying just €4million (£3.57million) for him in the summer with his contract winding down at former club Sao Paulo.
Militao, who can play both at right-back and centre-back, was clearly a player on Everton’s radar for the future.

However, it would appear his performances for Porto have almost been too good.
Because, if Everton want to sign him now, they have some fairly fierce opposition.
Real Madrid are the latest team to be linked with the player. Los Merengues, according to Marca, are keen on the player. The interest from a club like Real has Porto’s tails up. The report claims they would now seek a fee in the region of €50 million (£44.8 million) for the Brazilian.
Real are not the only big team linked with the player. Everton would also have to do battle with Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Manchester United, according to the Mirror.
It seems Everton’s early interest in the player has still come too late, with the big boys set to bully them off the playground.
