Everton round-up: Niasse agreement, Gomes boost, Barkley dig and French call-ups

A selection of the latest news and gossip from Everton.

Gentleman’s agreement

Galatasaray continue to be linked with a January move for Everton striker Oumar Niasse. A report from Fanatik is suggesting that the Turkish club and the player, in fact, agreed a deal two months ago. Unfortunately, they ran out of time to push a deal over the line before the deadline shut.

The report goes on to suggest that both parties still want the move to go through and Niasse could join Galatasaray in the winter.

Gomes boost

Everton have received a big injury boost from summer signing Andre Gomes. The Portuguese international arrived at the end of his recovery from a hamstring injury, but he suffered a minor setback in recovery shortly after arriving at Goodison Park.

However, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, he is now on course to make a full recovery from the injury after the international break.

Barkley dig

Ross Barkley has aimed a thinly veiled dig Everton’s way. Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Europa League clash with Vidi he stated that he has not ‘been coached much’ in his career.

He mentioned it as he lauded the impact of his current boss Maurizio Sarri.

Barkley left Everton for just £15 million in January, joining Chelsea. He has finally found his feet at Stamford Bridge and has just been recalled to the England squad.

Blues in Les Bleus

Everton newbies Kurt Zouma and Lucas Digne have received surprise call-ups to the French national team. Both players joined the club this summer and will join up with the World Cup winners after the weekend.
