Lookman pursued

Ademola Lookman continues to be pursued by the Nigerian Football Federation about switching allegiances to the West African nation.

The London-born youngster helped England win the under-20 World Cup in 2017 and has previously turned down any approach from the Super Eagles.

Speaking to Sporting Life, the Nigerian manager Gernot Rohr suggested he would be an ‘exciting’ addition to the Nigeria fold.

However, the Liverpool Echo maintains he is focused on one day playing for England.

Silva on Gomes

Marco Silva was impressed with the debut of new signing Andre Gomes at the weekend. The Portuguese international thrived in the heart of midfield until his lack of match fitness caught up with him.

But, speaking to evertontv, the Everton boss made his belief clear that Gomes can help Everton play ‘quicker’ with his positive style of play in midfield.

Keane being pushed

Michael Keane says competition for places at the heart of Everton’s defence is ‘pushing’ him to play better this season.

The Toffees snapped up both Kurt Zouma and Yerry Mina in the summer, with the Colombian now fit to play.

With Mason Holgate and Phil Jagielka also present, competition for places has become tough and Keane’s performances have improved as a result.
