Everton round-up: Gabigol work permit, Moshiri cash injection and Holgate options

‘Gabigol’ work permit

According to Yahoo Sports, Everton target Gabriel Barbosa has applied for a UK work permit. The striker, known as ‘Gabigol’, has struggled to live up to his billing since joining Inter Milan in a €30 million deal in 2016.

He is said to be interesting Flamengo, but Everton has also been mentioned as a potential destination.

A move to Burnley fell through for the striker last season after being denied a work permit. This early application seems to be a bid to stop a similar scenario unfolding.

Finances

Everton appear to be doing very well financially. The club have announced record levels of revenue.

Farhad Moshiri’s commitment to the cause is also clear to see. The club’s owner pumped £100 million of equity into the club this year.

Holgate targeted

Three Championship sides have been linked with the Everton defender Mason Holgate. The Yorkshireman has been told he can leave the club on loan. Derby County, Sheffield United and Fulham are all said to be keen on the 22-year-old who has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park.
