Everton round-up: ‘Gabigol’ linked, Keane content and Vlasic praised

A selection of the latest news and gossip from Everton.

Gabigol wanted

Everton are said to be interested in Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa. The 23-year-old, known as ‘Gabigol’, is currently on fire at Santos after heading to the club on loan from Inter Milan.

Goal Brazil is claiming Everton are now keen on the player, who cost Inter £28 million but has failed to live up to his wonderkid billing.

The striker is also being targeted by West Ham and Crystal Palace.

However, the player was denied a work permit last year when Burnley were keen so a deal would seemingly be difficult to pull off.

Keane happy

Michael Keane has been speaking to the Liverpool Echo about his campaign so far. The £25 million summer signing from 2017 struggled in his first season at the club. Injury problems and managerial turnaround saw him struggle for consistency.

However, he has started this season well and told the Echo he ‘turned a corner’ this summer.

Keane has been an ever-present for Everton this season, despite missing a period of time with a minor fracture in his skull.

Vlasic praised

Croatian assistant manager Ivica Olic has been discussing Everton loanee Nikola Vlasic.

The attacker, currently out on loan at CSKA Moscow, was signed after impressing in Europa League qualifiers against Everton for Hajduk Split.

He is now in great form for CSKA and earned a recall for Croatia.

Olic told Sportske Novosti he was pleased to see Vlasic back to his pre-Everton form after joining his former club.
