Everton round-up: Dowell loan likely, Baines position change and Mitrovic tracked

Dowell admiration

Steven Gerrard admits he is a fan of Kieran Dowell. The Rangers boss said he ‘admires’ the England under-21 international.

Rangers have been linked with a move for the player and the Liverpool Echo suggests Everton are willing to sanction a loan move for the talented midfielder.

Rangers need a replacement for Ovie Ejaria, who cancelled his loan spell and returned to Liverpool at the weekend.

Baines change

Marco Silva has been discussing the future of Leighton Baines. The former England international has been on the sidelines this season following the signature of Lucas Digne.

Everton’s Portuguese boss has admitted that Baines may be used in midfield going forward, suggesting he has the ‘fantastic individual qualities’ to play in such a role. He also made it clear his attitude had been exemplary during his time out of the team.

Mitrovic monitored

Everton are said to be one team monitoring the situation involving Aleksandar Mitrovic at Fulham. The Serbian striker is said to be unsettled after the departure of his compatriot Slavisa Jokanovic as boss.

Chelsea are also said to be keeping an eye on the situation.
