Everton will hope to complete the signature of German full-back Marvin Plattenhardt, after the World Cup.
The defender will be hoping to be in action this afternoon, as Germany take on Mexico in Russia.
His future at current club Hertha Berlin is in doubt however and, according to the Daily Star, a £16 million move to Goodison Park should be on the cards at the conclusion of the tournament.
The 26-year-old is being targeted as a long-term replacement for Everton’s current full-back Leighton Baines.
Diop to London
It appears Everton have missed out in the pursuit of Issa Diop. The French under-21 star had previously been linked with a £26 million move to Goodison Park. However, reports this weekend are suggesting the Toulouse star is heading to London.
L’Equipe report that West Ham United have won the race to sign the player this summer. The report claims that West Ham have agreed a €25 million (£21.9 million) deal to sign the player this summer, beating out further interest from Sevilla. The deal will be concluded early next week.
Gylfi cool as ice
Everton fans were left ecstatic yesterday with the performance of their midfield maestro Gylfi Sigurdsson at the World Cup.
The ‘Iceman’ was coolness personified as he thrived in his nation’s impressive 1-1 draw with Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
Considering he has only just returned from injury, Everton fans will be over the moon to see he has suffered no ill effect from the lay-off, as he put in a tremendous performance for the World Cup minnows.
