Everton round-up: De Ligt wanted, Lozano free path and youngsters get a chance

All the latest news and gossip from Everton.

De Ligt-ful transfer rumour

It appears Everton are looking to bring in the highly-rated Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt. The Toffees need a new centre-back and the 18-year-old is considered one of the best young talents in world football.

The Telegraph is reporting that Everton want to tempt the player, who has been compared to former Blues manager Ronald Koeman, to Goodison Park.

He has been linked with a number of top clubs including the likes of Barcelona, Tottenham and Manchester City.

But he is currently represented by Mino Raiola, who has an excellent working relationship with the Everton director of football Marcel Brands and chairman Farhad Moshiri.

Free to move for Lozano

Everton are free to make a move for Mexico’s World Cup hero Hirving Lozano. The PSV star has been heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park this season. The club’s new director of football Brands signed Lozano at the Dutch club and is now believed to want him on Merseyside.

Now, according to the Liverpool Echo, a move can be completed as Brands has no clause in his deal which prevents him from raiding his former club.

Lozano scored 17 goals and bagged eight assists as PSV won the Eredivisie title last season and scored the winning goal as Mexico beat Germany at the World Cup this weekend.

All the young dudes

Everton will give a chance to several youngsters under their new manager Marco Silva. Sky Sports is reporting that the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman, Kieran Dowell and Jonjoe Kenny will get a chance at Goodison Park next season.

There have been fears some Everton youngsters could be on the way out, with the Toffees set to make changes this summer.

But Silva and Brands appear committed to their young talents.
