Everton reportedly want Arsenal star Alex Iwobi once nicknamed after Ronaldo

Everton could reportedly look to bring in Arsenal defender Calum Chambers in January for just £5m – and Alex Iwobi has a nickname for him.

Chambers, bought by Arsene Wenger from Southampton for £16million (Goal) back in 2014 could be about to be sold for less than a third of that.

Indeed, the one-time England international is about to enter the last six months of his Arsenal contract. A new deal looks incredibly unlikely.

The Sun report that Everton are ready to offer the versatile defender an escape route from the Emirates. A January move is on the cards.

That is because Everton are readying a bargain figure of just £5million for Chambers. His contract situation is making him available on the cheap.

Chambers played alongside Everton star Iwobi at Arsenal. Chambers scored against Burnley in 2016, and Iwobi named him after Ronaldo.

“He’s still talking about it in the showers, everyone is talking about it,” Iwobi said in 2016. “Conaldo is what they call him now.”

Iwobi on Chambers: Everton cannot left £5m chance slip for Arsenal ace

While many will point to his injury record, his lack of game time or his relegation with Fulham – Chambers is a top player, and a bargain.

Rafa Benitez has already shown what his tactics and man management can do. Bringing in Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray for £1.7million.

The duo are performing heroics in an Everton side that have suffered in the past when it comes to overspending on stars with bigger egos than quality.

Chambers offers cover at right-back, centre-back in midfield. At just £5million, it is a no-brainer for all clubs in the same bracket as Everton.
