Everton have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Inter Milan playmaker Christian Eriksen before the end of the month – a player that Carlo Ancelotti compared to Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo less than 12 months ago.
Eriksen, 28, joined Inter Milan from Tottenham Hotspur last January but has since struggled under Antonio Conte. The 103-time Denmark international has played 38 times in all competitions for Antonio Conte’s side, scoring just four goals.
Italian outlet La Stampa – as per Sempre Inter that Everton have made an enquiry to lure Eriksen to the Premier League. The Inter ace has also been linked with a return to Tottenham – as well as Wolves, Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Toffees do boast James Rodriguez and Gylfi Sigurdsson as options in the 10 role but have asked about Eriksen this month, a player that Ancelotti labelled the “complete midfielder” – as per Football Italia – one that can play in numerous midfield areas.
“Eriksen is the complete midfielder, as he can play both wide and in a deeper role. I see him very similar to Pirlo, so he could also play in front of the defence. He can see the passing lines, can shoot from distance too,” Ancelotti said in February 2020.
TBR’s view – Eriksen would be a top signing for Everton
Unfortunately for Eriksen, he is struggling to get game time and has joined an Inter side that boast an enormous squad. He has been in and out of the side and failed to rediscover his best form and the momentum required to do that.
At Everton, he would get that game time. With James Rodriguez being used on the flank, Eriksen could play in front of two midfielders and behind Dom Calvert-Lewin. It would add a crucial missing jigsaw piece into Ancelotti’s side.
Would Eriksen join Everton? The lure of Ancelotti would surely tempt the ex-Ajax man. CalcioMercato claim Inter wany £17million, while the player himself wants £120,000 a week at Inter – a move that is easily affordable.
