Everton have joined the race for Bristol City central defender Adam Webster, according to a report by the Sun.
They report that the Toffees are ready to battle Aston Villa and Newcastle for the towering 24-year-old, who only joined the Robins last summer for a fee that could rise to £8 million.
With Michael Keane and Yerry Mina the only senior central defensive options Marco Silva can rely on going into the new season, it’s no surprise to see reports that the Portuguese wants new blood.
But the report says City want over £10 million for the defender, who has never played in the Premier League.

As a cover option, in this day and age, around £10 million for a young British defender like Webster may not be the worst deal in the world financially.
But question marks persist over whether Webster would make the step up into the Premier League, especially as Everton look to kick on into European contention.
Aden Flint struggled after leaving Bristol City – there was a time when he may have been touted as a Premier League defender, but after a dodgy season at Middlesbrough, that ship looks to have sailed.
Everton fans would perhaps like to think that their club could do better than Webster with the ambitions that the club has these days.
But if he’s been scouted well, Silva and Marcel Brands have earned the trust of the supporters with their business last summer and they’ll likely give Webster the benefit of the doubt. And even Michael Keane took a year to settle and he’s an England international.
