Everton reported target John McGinn would improve the midfield

Everton need to make improvements in the next transfer window to get themselves back around the European spots, with the midfield area certainly somewhere that needs addressing.

The Toffees need to try find more creativity in the centre of the park, as they are too reliant on their forwards and their wide players haven’t been too useful in front of goal this campaign.

The likes of Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and even forgotten man Jean-Philippe Gbamin provide defensive steel, while fan favourite Andre Gomes has the guile to spot a pass.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s side are crying out for a box-to-box central midfielder and that’s why reported target John McGinn could be the upgrade in the team they are crying out for.

According to TEAMtalk, Aston Villa star John McGinn is attracting summer interest from Everton, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The report explains that Villa have a fight on their hands to keep the Scotland international and won’t be able to reject big offers for him.

McGinn has missed a spell through injury this campaign for Villa, but overall has made a great impact during his first taste of Premier League football with three goals and two assists in 18 top-flight matches.

The 25-year-old could inject something for Everton going forward and he is certainly too good to drop back down to the Championship, with Villa currently in a relegation position.

He is a left-footed central midfielder that offers a threat with his tireless runs into the final third, plus he’s aggressive in his defensive work and has a lot of potential still.

McGinn, who earns £25,000-a-week (Spotrac), has all the tools to be a real success at Goodison Park and that’s why Everton should make him a priority target.
