Everton predicted XI v Southampton: Allan starts, Mason Holgate benched

Everton face Southampton tonight looking to kick on after their first win over Liverpool at Anfield since 1999 last time out.

The Toffees will have aspirations of playing in Europe next season and they’ll hope to claim three points tonight.

Carlo Ancelotti will have some decisions to make over his team selection given the nature of last weekend’s win.

Ahead of tonight’s game, we looked at the team that could be named by Ancelotti.

In goal and back four

Jordan Pickford was superb at Anfield and he will now look to go on a run of form to highlight his quality.

Someone might have to drop out tonight from last weekend’s win, as Ancelotti opts for a back four.

That man could be Mason Holgate, with Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane to start at centre-back.

Seamus Coleman should captain the side from right-back and Lucas Digne should start on the left.

Andre Gomes could miss out tonight as Allan comes back into the team.

The £70,000-a-week midfielder has not played in the Premier League this year due to injury.

He could return tonight after featuring on the bench at Anfield last week.

Tom Davies and Abdoulaye Doucoure should start alongside the ex-Napoli man.

In attack

Ancelotti has been bolstered this week with Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming through a full week of training unscathed.

He came off the bench last week against Liverpool but should return to the starting line-up tonight.

Richarlison scored against Liverpool and should start on the right-hand side.

Another player who has been impressive this season is James Rodriguez and he too should earn another start this evening.
