Everton Player Ratings: How did the Toffees rate in defeat to Chelsea?

Mason Holgate – The young right back has been fairly impressive since coming into the team to deputise for Seamus Coleman and he was good again on Sunday. He completed three tackles during the match, including one that stopped a certain goal. In possession, his distribution and decision making needs to improve, but he is an exciting young player. 6

Phil Jagielka – Despite his good service to the club, the centre back may need to be replaced this summer if the Toffees want to progress further. His lack of mobility is a weakness and it was exploited by Pedro for the first goal. 5

Ashley Williams – It was not a great afternoon for the centre-back as he struggled in the battle with Diego Costa. He wasn’t at blame for either goal, but he wasn’t at his best at Goodison Park on Sunday. 5

Leighton Baines – It was a landmark appearance for the left back and he delivered a decent ,if unremarkable, display. He was okay defensively and reliable in possession, but he couldn’t influence the game in any way. 6
