Everton are out for revenge and could wreck Liverpool’s title charge

Everton got back to winning ways with a 3-0 mauling of Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

The Toffees have been in rotten form in 2019 and had lost their previous three league games before beating the Welsh club at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Marco Silva’s side now face the daunting prospect of taking on cross-city rivals Liverpool on Sunday, with the Reds having just wiped the floor with Watford.

Jurgen Klopp’s team won 5-0 at Anfield to maintain their one-point lead atop the Premier League table.

Everton to throw a spanner in the works?

Everton will be pumped enough going into a Merseyside Derby, but the previous result could potentially see them derail Liverpool’s title charge.

In the reverse fixture in December, Everton were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool thanks to the scruffiest of last-gasp goals from substitute Divock Origi.

It remains one of the Reds’ most important results this term, but they may find it tough on Sunday with Everton likely still reeling from that narrow defeat.

Revenge will be on the minds of all the Everton players and that, coupled with Liverpool gunning for their first Premier League title, could see Silva’s players perform out of their skins at Goodison Park.

With confidence high again having beaten Cardiff, there’s a high probability that Liverpool could be presented with a wounded animal.
