Silva lining

Marco Silva is expected to be named the new Everton manager by the end of the week, according to several reports. Sky Sports claims that the Portuguese former Hull City and Watford boss has already spoken to incoming director of football Marcel Brands about the vision for the club and is ready to take the job.

It appears likely that Silva will be announced on Friday, the same day that Brands starts officially working at Goodison Park.

Everton wanted Silva to replace Ronald Koeman last season after the Dutchman was sacked but they could not pry him from Watford. The subsequent attention saw Watford’s form dip and Silva was then given the sack.

Everton appointed Sam Allardyce instead, who led the club to an eighth place finish but was still sacked this summer, with concerns over his playing style.

Hopefully, Silva can hit the ground running at Goodison.

Niasse out?

Oumar Niasse could be on his way out of the club, according to reports in Turkey. Fanatik are reporting that the Turkish giants want to bring him back to the Super Lig, where he has previously thrived with Akhisar Belediyespor.

The £13.5 million January signing in 2016 initially struggled at Everton and spent time on loan with incoming manager Silva’s Hull City side.

After being cast-out by Koeman he did eventually win his way back into the fold but it appears he could find his way out of the club.

Torreira interest

Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira. It is reported by Calciomercato that the Toffees are considering an approach for the player, who has a £22 million release clause in his contract with the Serie A side.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has been identified as a player who can improve the Everton team and an approach is now looming.

Napoli are also keen on the player, as well as Arsenal and Liverpool, so bringing him to Goodison Park will not be an easy task.

But he could be a wonderful recruit for the club this summer.
