Sky Sports is reporting that Everton are set to open the bidding for Norwich City youngster James Maddison in the coming days. The report claims Everton will jump ahead of Leicester City and Fulham in the queue to sign the player by making a bid for his services next week.
The delay in making any move, with a fee of £20-£25 million being mooted, appears to be the desire for Everton to move Wayne Rooney on first. The England legend is set to join DC United by the end of the week.
Maddison is currently injured but will be fit again by July and Everton are clearly not put off by his current condition.
Turkish reports are suggesting Besiktas are struggling to get the funds together to put a deal together for Everton flop Davy Klaassen.
The £23.6 million summer signing from Ajax has struggled to have an impact at Goodison Park and it is believed he could be moved on this summer.
However, despite Besiktas’ strong interest in signing the player, his wages and transfer fee are proving an issue in their attempt to sign him on a two-year loan – according to Hurriyet.
Everton are in the hunt to sign Issa Diop from Toulouse this summer. According to the Daily Mail, the French under-21 international and Toulouse captain is wanted as a defensive reinforcement at Goodison Park.
However, a price-tag of £26 million has been mentioned.
Fulham and West Ham are also keen on the player, who would be an excellent replacement for the ageing Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka.
