Dost wanted

Everton are now believed to be in the hunt for Sporting Lisbon’s Dutch striker Bas Dost, according to reports.

It is being suggested by Algemeen Dagblad that the giant striker is on the radar for Everton, as they look to make wholesale improvements to the first-team under new manager Marco Silva.

The 29-year-old is coming off the back of a magnificent season in Portugal. He scored 33 goals in 44 games as his reputation as a clinical goalscorer continued to grow.

Everton have Cenk Tosun up front at present, but very little in reserve and Dost would provide brilliant competition for the Turkish international.

However, Everton will have to first convince Sporting to sell the player. The Portuguese side are considered one of the hardest teams to negotiate with in world football and the Dutchman will not be allowed to go on the cheap.

Mo to go?

Everton boss Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have a decision to make this summer on the future of midfielder Mo Besic.

The fan favourite spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough, who want to secure his signature again for next term.

However, Teesside Live reports that Everton have fielded plenty of calls from agents and clubs already this summer regarding the future of the Bosnian international.

His Everton career has been decimated by injury so it remains to be seen if Everton decide to give Besic another chance or let him go this summer.

Baxter thankful

Jose Baxter has relayed his thanks to Everton for helping him get back on track last season. After failing two drugs tests the youngest ever Everton player looked to have ruined his career after being released by Sheffield United.

But last summer Everton offered him a chance to re-join his boyhood club and play and train with the under-23s. He has now thanked the club, telling the Manchester Evening News he now feels ‘hungrier than ever’ after agreeing on a move to Boundary Park.

His aim for next season is to get Oldham back into League One at the first attempt, following their relegation last month.
