Everton fans disappointed with Jordan Pickford after Newcastle rescue point

Everton dropped two vital points last night as Newcastle United scored twice in stoppage time to earn themselves a 2-2 draw.

The Toffees were in cruise control when the fourth official had indicated a minimum of five extra minutes.

Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had given the hosts an advantage that should have proved unassailable.

When Florian Lejeune scored with four minutes of the five additional minutes played, it should have been nothing more than a consolation goal.

Goodison Park gasped in disbelief when the Frenchman followed his first up with an equaliser seconds after the restart.

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford copped a fair amount of stick for his part in the second goal.

Although he made a great double save, his positioning saw him stood over his line. When a third shot came in his attempt to deny the goal was done so from behind the line.

Everton have been vastly improved under Carlo Ancelotti and this result proves a blow for the Italian.

For Pickford, it’s back to the drawing board and following the game, supporters took to Twitter.

Many were left fuming with the £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) stopper and vented their frustrations on social media.

Here is a selection of tweets from Everton supporters regarding Pickford’s performance:
