Everton must regret not signing Ricardo Pereira after right-back problems

Last April, ahead of the transfer market opening once again, Everton found themselves linked with a move for Portuguese right-back Ricardo Pereira. As reported by A Bola, and relayed by Sky Sports, the Toffees were keen on the player who was available for a fee in the region of £18 million.

It was, however, a deal many felt Everton did not need. In Seamus Coleman, they have one of the best right-backs in the Premier League in recent years. On top of that, Jonjoe Kenny is a top talent coming through the ranks. Right-back was not an issue.

However, now it seems Everton might have missed an opportunity with the talented defender.

Coleman has had a poor season. His defensive capabilities have completely dissipated. It appears that his injury troubles in recent years may have had a detrimental effect on his playing style.

Kenny has had some good games but still looks too green for Premier League football at this stage.

Pereira, on the other hand, has looked great. As reported by talkSPORT, the Foxes paid £17.5 million for the player who has been in great form this term. He even scored against Everton earlier in the season.

Everton could clearly have done with the services of the Portuguese speedster this season.
